ADIHEX Wrap up of day four

2 September 2025

Abu Dhabi 02 September 2025: Day four of ADIHEX has closed after presenting a full agenda of shows and cultural heritage experiences at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi today.

Taking place under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club, the 22nd edition of the globally renowned exhibition is being organised by ADNEC Group and the Emirates Falconers’ Club at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

ADIHEX’s fourth day featured further shows highlighting the rich tapestry of Emirati cultural traditions and heritage along with a range of innovative, forward-looking features that offered new products, engaged visitors of all ages, and showcased adventure and outdoor lifestyles.

Children focussed features

The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Heritage Partner of the 22nd edition of ADIHEX, featured the Hadad Challenge as part of its activities at the exhibition. This initiative offers the public an opportunity to learn about the art of falconry, along with its associated skills and authentic societal values.

At the Authority’s pavilion, participants engage with the game on an electronic screen, embodying the spirit of a falconer. Contestants virtually soar with a falcon in a race against time, testing their knowledge of Emirati heritage by answering a variety of heritage-related questions. Each correct answer earns points and unlocks more challenging levels, taking participants on an enjoyable journey that strengthens the connection of new generations to their heritage.

A highlight attraction of the day was the Young Falconers’ Village featuring hands-on workshops where children can discover the world of falcons, from learning safe handling methods to crafting traditional falconry tools like hoods, anklets, and jesses. Children of varies ages participated in creative falcon-inspired arts and crafts activities.

Additionally, the new Emirati Etiquette and Arabic Coffee Preparation Learning Zone, provided interactive workshops educating children about traditional Bedouin Campsite and all things falconry. The Hadheera Area is dedicated to teaching children about Emirati etiquette, including the proper way to meet and greet guests, appropriate behaviour in a majlis, and the correct method for pouring and serving Arabic coffee. This initiative aims to preserve and uphold the traditions of Emirati hospitality.

Knowledge Hub session

Dr. Anitha Saji led a fascinating lecture on the insects of the desert, highlighting the vital role they play in desert ecology and ecosystems. Dr. Saji, Senior Entomologist and Biodiversity Researcher at the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), emphasised that insects are not only crucial for maintaining natural balance but also a key component of biodiversity, playing essential roles in nutrient cycling, decomposition, and soil enrichment.

The renowned scientist also highlighted the remarkable adaptability of insects, which do not just survive but thrive in the harsh desert environment. She stressed the vital role of insects, from serving as food for larger prey to aiding seed dispersal. Insects such as ants, termites, locusts, beetles, and bees have all adapted uniquely to tough desert conditions.

Dr. Saji also addressed the many threats insects face, including climate change, habitat destruction, pesticide use, and agricultural practices. She urged the audience to be eco-conscious and support conservation efforts to protect these species and their habitats.
